The Town Dump
My small community requires residents to haul their garbage to the town dump. For several years, I’ve photographed distinctive industrial debris and decrepit machinery there. To me, some junk looked like near-alien life forms while others were beautiful in their rusts and peeling paint.
With this in mind, I’ve created a collection of digital abstractions that imagine a world where inanimate objects are assigned attributes that are human. They suggest a range of human experiences, such as sensuality, pleasure and connection. For this work, I strive to make junk feel paradoxically alive.
