The Captain's House

The Captains House
I began the windows project after I broke my back. Alone and isolated, I had managed to trudge as far as an old yellow house down the road. It was built by a sea captain. His rope cleats are still on the frames.
The window glass is rippled and distorts the reflections into abstractions. The images change with different times of the day and season. They are ephemeral. I am lost in space between the dim interior and vibrant exterior, or I am somewhere in between.
At the time, I was confined and adrift in a dim internal space, with just hints of the vibrant life outside. Then I reached the house. The windows were mirror images of the experience of moving between, with the life beyond. My rehab regimen was to reach those windows and photograph them. I walked, healed and returned to the world.
